After 24 matches, the Hammers are currently third from the bottom in the Premier League, trailing by six points for safety

West Ham United Football Club has successfully signed Chelsea defender, Axel Disasi, on loan until the end of the season. The 27-year-old centre-back's transfer was confirmed after a turbulent deadline day that concluded with a move to London Stadium for a £1.7m loan fee.

Despite commencing his medical examination early Friday morning, confirmation of the transfer was delayed as West Ham submitted a deal sheet to secure an additional two hours to finalize the signing. This strategic move ensured that they could strengthen their defence line with this France international player.

Disasi's arrival is expected to bolster Nuno Espirito Santo's defence as they strive to evade relegation. Currently, The Hammers are third from bottom in the Premier League after 24 matches and six points off safety. This new addition could potentially be pivotal in changing their current standing.

Axel Disasi, West Ham defender, said:

"I'm very happy to be here, to have this opportunity. I'm just ready to fight and to play games. It's an exciting challenge. We know that the club is not at the place that it should be, but I'm here to help the team and to bring what I can to achieve our goal."

"The club has given me the opportunity to show my quality on the pitch. I spoke with all the people here, and I feel that they really wanted me, so that's why I'm here. Everyone knows my situation in the last few months, so I just want to get back on the field, feel the sensation of games and help the team."

From "bomb squad" to first-team training

Interestingly, Disasi has not played for Chelsea for over a year and was previously placed in what is colloquially known as the club's "bomb squad". He found himself surplus to requirements by former head coach Enzo Maresca after failing to secure a move last summer.

However, showing resilience and determination, he worked his way back into both under-21s and first-team training despite not making any senior appearances during this period.

Before joining Chelsea from Monaco in 2023 through a £38m deal, Disasi spent half of last season on loan at Aston Villa. Despite these setbacks and changes throughout his career journey so far, he remains determined more than ever before to prove his worth at West Ham United Football Club. While it remains to be seen how this move will impact West Ham's performance in the Premier League, it is clear that Disasi's addition to the team brings a renewed sense of hope and anticipation for both sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts alike.
