TNT Sports will now become exclusive destination for all sports, from football to UFC fights

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has announced plans to retire the Eurosport brand in the UK and Ireland, consolidating its sports rights under a single brand - TNT Sports.

Eurosport, a well-known name among sports enthusiasts, will cease to exist in these regions as all live and non-live content will transition to TNT Sports on 28 February 2025. This includes WBD's linear channels, Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2. However, it's worth noting that this change is only applicable for the UK and Ireland; elsewhere, more than 50 other countries will continue enjoying their favorite sports via unchanged Eurosport channels.

The move aims at simplifying WBD’s sports offering by unifying it under one banner – TNT Sports. This consolidation brings together an impressive array of sporting events exclusive to viewers in the UK and Ireland on both TNT Sports channel and its streaming home discovery+.

Scott Young, production and business operations, WBD Sports Europe, said:

“Combining Eurosport and TNT Sports content in the UK and Ireland will enable us to offer a single, premium viewing experience for sports fans. This move in the UK and Ireland will also continue to best deliver value for our leagues and federation partners, as we continue our 35 years plus commitment to investment and championing of sport on our screens, which remains a fundamental part of the success of grassroots through to elite.

“TNT Sports will also continue to bring more content to fans on Warner Bros. Discovery’s free-to-air channel Quest. In 2025, this will include broadcasting every MotoGP Sprint race, adding to existing live Bennetts British Superbikes coverage, a brand-new weekly cycling show covering all key moments of the season, continue highlights of the Giro d’Italia and La Vuelta a España, plus premiere a range of new sports documentaries.”

Exclusive rights under one roof

TNT Sports is set to become a one-stop destination for sports enthusiasts, boasting an impressive portfolio of exclusive rights. This includes high-profile events such as the Australian Open and Roland-Garros tennis tournaments, Grand Tour cycling, UCI Mountain Bike World Series, every major winter sports World Championship and World Cup event. Motor racing fans will be catered for with British and World Superbikes while snooker enthusiasts can follow their favorite players on TNT Sports. The channel also holds rights for future Olympic Games from 2026 through 2032.

Football fans are not left out either; they can look forward to Premier League matches as well as UEFA European club football games. Rugby followers will have access to both men’s and women’s Premiership rugby matches. Moreover, MotoGP races, international cricket matches along with UFC fights and boxing bouts are all part of TNT Sport's extensive offering. Previously these events were scattered across different platforms which often made it challenging for fans to keep up with their favorite sports.

In addition to this rebranding exercise, WBD has future plans for its streaming services. Once Max is launched in the UK next year, it will become the new streaming home for TNT Sports, replacing discovery+.

Free-to-Air channel quest

WBD is also planning to put a selection of sports programming, documentaries and live sport on its free-to-air channel Quest. This move is designed to serve as a taster and driver of traffic to TNT Sports.

TNT Sports was first introduced in the UK and Ireland in 2023 following WBD's acquisition of BT Sport. The upcoming changes mark an exciting new chapter for sports broadcasting in these regions. This consolidation under TNT Sports not only simplifies WBD’s sports offering but also promises an enhanced viewing experience for sports fans and betting enthusiasts alike.
