Since his appointment as Fulham's manager in 2021, Silva has been rumored for other high-profile positions

Fulham manager, Marco Silva, has recently expressed uncertainty about his future with the club. Despite a contract extension offer from the club, Silva remains undecided about whether he will continue to lead Fulham into the next season.

Silva's current contract is set to expire at the end of June. The club has shown its interest in retaining him by offering a three-year extension. However, despite this gesture of confidence from Fulham, Silva has yet to make a decision regarding his future with the team.

The Portuguese boss was appointed as Fulham’s manager in 2021 and since then there have been rumors linking him with other high-profile jobs. Before Xabi Alonso was appointed as Chelsea’s new manager on Sunday, there were speculations that Silva might take up that role.

Furthermore, insiders close to Silva suggest that he harbors ambitions of managing at higher levels. He has demonstrated loyalty towards Fulham by rejecting multiple offers from Saudi clubs but hasn't ruled out returning to Portuguese football either. This comes amidst rumors linking Benfica coach Jose Mourinho with Real Madrid’s managerial position.

Fulham manager, Marco Silva, said:

"I have not decided. I understand the fans want to know the future of the club. Myself and the club cannot communicate something when the decision is not made."

"We are going to have meetings, I am going to analyse," added Silva about his own future. I believe there are many things to analyse and you need to be calm in this moment to address many, many things."

Crucial summer for Fulham

Silva stated that this upcoming summer would be "one of the most important for the club's future". With key players like Harry Wilson also out of contract this summer and their recent performance slump - failing to win their past three games - it indeed seems like a crucial period for Fulham.

Since taking charge five years ago when they were still in Championship league, Silva led them back into Premier League in his first season itself. Since then he has helped establish them firmly within Premier League ranks guiding them to 10th, 13th and 11th placed finishes over subsequent seasons.

Currently sitting at 13th place with one match left, their recent performance has seriously dented their chances of qualifying for Europe next season. The future of Fulham under Silva remains uncertain. While the club is keen to retain him, Silva's personal ambitions and potential opportunities elsewhere might influence his decision. This summer will indeed be a crucial period for Fulham as they navigate these uncertainties and strive to improve their performance on the field.
