Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has made headlines with his audacious plan to sell six players from the team this summer. The move comes as part of his strategy to streamline the squad for the upcoming season.

Guardiola has been clear about his intentions for a leaner team. He even threatened to walk away from his role before his contract expires next summer if these demands were not met. Kyle Walker is already on board with Burnley, but there are six more players who might be heading towards the exit door at Etihad Stadium.

Pivotal defender on the list

One of the most notable names in this list is John Stones - a treble-winning icon and one of Guardiola’s most trusted defenders. Since joining in 2016 during Guardiola’s first transfer window, he has made 277 appearances and cemented his legacy within the club.

However, recurring injuries have plagued Stones' career recently. Last season saw him feature in just 11 Premier League games and he hasn't made a domestic appearance since February due to these health issues.

Other potential departures

The other stars included in Man City's potential departure list are Nico O'Reilly, Mateo Kovacic, Ilkay Gundogan, Claudio Echeverri and Oscar Bobb. However, it seems unlikely that Bobb will be allowed to leave after missing most of last season due to a fractured leg.

Kovacic stepped up admirably last season filling in for injured Rodri and was often praised for his versatility on field. For Gundogan though this could mean an end of an era as he had rejoined Man City just last summer after leaving previously. Echeverri - touted as one of world football's best teenagers - also joined only last summer. However, after making just one appearance, he seems to be on the chopping block.

Guardiola's decision to sell these players is undoubtedly bold and could significantly alter the dynamics of the team. Whether this move will pay off in terms of performance and results in the upcoming season remains to be seen. For now, sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts alike are eagerly watching how this situation unfolds at Etihad Stadium.
