The agreement grants rights to broadcast highlights from Serie A, Coppa Italia (from the quarter-finals), and the Italian Super Cup

Rai Italia, Italy's state broadcaster, has recently secured a deal to broadcast highlights from its Serie A domestic soccer top-flight in international markets. This move is set to expand the reach of Italian football and provide fans worldwide with access to some of the most exciting moments in the league.

The agreement not only includes rights for Serie A matches but also extends to show highlights from the Coppa Italia cup competition, starting from the quarter-finals onwards, and the Italian Super Cup. The contract covers all global markets outside of Italy, marking a significant expansion in coverage.

These highlights will be aired on a new edition of Rai’s La Giostra del Gol programme. This program is making a return and will air every Tuesday across five continents on the Rai Internazionale channel.

Maria Rita Grieco, Rai Italia director, said:

“I am extremely pleased with this agreement, and I thank the company and the sports rights department for supporting me in what was one of my first requests as director, as well as Rai Sport for what will be a fruitful collaboration throughout the season.”

Kick-off of 2025-26 Serie A season

The 2025-26 Serie A season commenced on August 23. In Italy, this prestigious league is broadcasted by DAZN - a global sports streaming service - and Sky Italia - pay-TV giant. In recent weeks, Serie A has been assertive in securing several rights deals across international markets. One such deal is the renewed agreement with Starzplay, an OTT platform that serves viewers in the Middle East and North Africa. This renewal extends their partnership for another three seasons.

Additionally, Serie A has forged a new and exciting partnership with CazeTV, a sports streaming service based in Brazil. This collaboration will cover the current season's broadcasts. Lastly, DAZN - already a prominent broadcaster of Serie A within Italy - has expanded its reach by acquiring rights in several international markets including the UK and US. These strategic partnerships are part of an ongoing effort by Serie A to increase its visibility globally while providing fans around the world easier access to their favorite sport.

The recent deal secured by Rai Italia is a significant step in expanding the reach of Serie A and Italian football as a whole. With the inclusion of highlights from key competitions like Coppa Italia and the Italian Super Cup, fans worldwide can now stay updated with all the thrilling moments from these tournaments. The partnerships with international streaming services further ensure that no matter where they are, fans will have access to their favorite teams and matches.
