The new deal will allow MNC to broadcast nine fixtures each game week

Indonesia's leading broadcaster, MNC Media Group, has secured all-encompassing rights to German men’s soccer’s top-tier Bundesliga through the 2024-25 season. The deal covers pay-TV, free-to-air (FTA), and over-the-top streaming rights. The agreement was announced as the 2024-25 campaign kicked off with Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Bayer Leverkusen. Under the new arrangement, all nine fixtures will be broadcast each game week.

Up to four of these games will be made available FTA via channels such as RCTI. Pay-TV and streaming coverage will be provided by outlets including KVision, direct-to-home service MNC Vision, and Vision+ (an over-the-top platform). This marks a significant shift from previous years when commercial broadcaster Mola TV covered Bundesliga matches since 2020.

In addition to live game coverage, fans can look forward to more than 60,000 minutes of shoulder programming each season provided by the Bundesliga’s International Product Portfolio scheme. This content will be accessible across various channels owned by the MNC group. Moreover, both parties have agreed on a collaborative marketing strategy that includes fan watch parties and out-of-home campaigns along with exclusive prizes that money can't buy.

Strengthening ties with Indonesian football

This development follows last year's memorandum of understanding between Bundesliga and the Football Association of Indonesia. It signifies an ongoing commitment towards promoting German football within Indonesia while fostering stronger ties between both nations' football associations.

Peer Naubert, chief marketing officer at Bundesliga, said:

“In MNC, we have a partner that shares our vision, and we are looking forward to working hand-in-hand with them to deliver all the goals, excitement and drama of the Bundesliga to fans each week."

Domestic live coverage this upcoming season will also include broadcasts from Sky Deutschland Sport1 Sat1 DAZN.

MNC's growing influence in sports broadcasting

MNC and Mola TV are two of the primary sports rightsholders in Indonesia, along with international heavyweight BeIN Sports. Recently, MNC provided coverage of the men’s national team UEFA European Championships in Germany.

Hary Tanoesoedibjo, MNC Group’s executive chair, said:

“This deal marks a significant milestone in our commitment to delivering world-class sports content and enhancing the viewing experience for our audience. The Bundesliga’s teams have captivated soccer enthusiasts globally, and we are proud to make it accessible to millions of passionate fans here in Indonesia.”

This new partnership between Bundesliga and MNC is set to revolutionize how Indonesian fans experience German football. With comprehensive coverage across multiple platforms and additional programming benefits, it promises an immersive viewing experience for all Bundesliga enthusiasts.
