Premier League fans in India have a reason to celebrate as JioStar has secured the media rights for the next three seasons, starting with the 2025-2026 season. This development is a significant milestone in sports broadcasting, particularly for those who enjoy watching their favourite clubs' matches.

According to a reports, the deal is valued at an impressive $65 million. It's believed that these rights cover both live broadcasting on television and streaming platforms. This means that fans will have multiple avenues to catch all the action from one of football's most prestigious leagues.

Transition from Disney Star India to JioStar

The audiovisual rights for the previous cycle (2022-2025) were held by Disney Star India’s Star Sports. However, following Disney Star India's merger with Reliance Industries' owned Viacom18 and Bodhi Tree Systems - which led to its renaming as JioStar - it was this newly formed entity that successfully bid and acquired these coveted rights.

In addition to securing Premier League broadcasting rights, JioStar also holds the rights to broadcast matches from Indian Super League (ISL) – India’s premier soccer tournament. These additional rights came its way following its recent merger.

As of now, there remains some uncertainty regarding how live telecasts will be divided between Sports18 and Star Sports along with Hotstar and JioCinema. Fans are eagerly awaiting further clarity on this matter so they can plan their viewing schedules accordingly.

Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development in sports broadcasting!

This acquisition by JioStar represents an exciting time for sports fans across India who can look forward not only to enjoying Premier League games but also Indian Super League matches over the next three years. With the promise of both live broadcasting and streaming, it's clear that JioStar is committed to delivering high-quality sports content to its audience.
