The future of Igor Tudor at Tottenham Hotspur hangs in the balance, with the Croatian manager's position at the club reportedly at 'serious risk'.
This comes in the wake of a series of disappointing performances by the team under his leadership, as revealed by journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Tudor, who was appointed as interim manager in February, has overseen four consecutive defeats in his four games in charge, including a 5-2 loss to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, which, despite being helped by a creditable point achieved against Liverpool at the weekend, is seen by many as not good enough. At this point, Tottenham are playing High Roller Roulette by allowing Tudor to stay in the post as they edge closer and closer to relegation.
The team has conceded a total of 14 goals under his management, which has led to Tottenham's current 16th position in the Premier League, just one point above the bottom three.
On his YouTube channel, Romano disclosed that Tottenham are open to another managerial change due to Tudor's difficult start.
Romano stated:
"What's happening with Igor Tudor is that Tottenham, at the moment, have confirmed that Igor Tudor will take the press conference on Friday ahead of the Liverpool game. But obviously, he remains at serious, serious risk of being sacked by Tottenham any moment."
Tudor's treatment of goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, who was substituted just 15 minutes into his Champions League debut, has also drawn heavy criticism.
When asked about his future at Tottenham after the defeat to Atletico, Tudor declined to comment.
Potential replacements for Tudor
Tottenham reportedly have several potential candidates lined up to replace Tudor until the end of the season.
The list includes former interim boss Ryan Mason, ex-Spurs striker Robbie Keane, and former Nottingham Forest boss Sean Dyche. While Mason and Dyche are currently available, Keane is leading Hungarian side Ferencvaros towards another league title.
Chris Hughton, former Brighton and Newcastle boss, is another potential candidate. Hughton is currently unemployed following his sacking as Ghana head coach in 2024.
Mauricio Pochettino, the Argentine manager currently in charge of the United States, is among the leading candidates to take over as Tottenham's manager after the season.
Reports suggest that Pochettino would be open to returning to Spurs even if they are playing in the Championship in 2026/27, almost seven years after his sacking in 2019.
Pochettino is expected to leave his current role after the World Cup when his contract expires.
The future of Igor Tudor at Tottenham Hotspur remains uncertain. With potential replacements already being considered, it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold in the coming days.
