In a groundbreaking move, DAZN, the global sports streaming service, has announced its plans to live stream National League football matches on TikTok. The first match will be between Southend United and Carlisle United on Saturday, 8 November. This initiative is part of a shared ambition between DAZN and TikTok to make live football more accessible and interactive for fans.

The inaugural match for this new streaming venture will kick off at 5.30pm on the @dazn_nationalleague TikTok channel. Fans can tune in to watch Southend United take on Carlisle United in what promises to be an exciting encounter.

Pete Oliver, CEO of growth markets at DAZN, said:

“This collaboration with TikTok is an important moment in DAZN’s longstanding partnership with the National League. Through broadcasting National League content on DAZN’s dedicated TikTok channel and hosting a workshop on leveraging the platform, we’re working with clubs to grow their engagement, tell their stories and reach wider audiences. DAZN is helping make football more accessible and creating opportunities for clubs to thrive in the digital era.”

This collaboration is driven by a shared vision between DAZN and TikTok - making live football more accessible, interactive, and social for fans worldwide. By leveraging the popularity of the social media platform TikTok, they aim to reach out to a wider audience base that extends beyond traditional sports broadcasting channels.

More matches & behind-the-scenes content

While DAZN hasn't yet announced which match it will stream after the initial game between Southend United V Carlisle United, it has expressed interest in "exploring further opportunities this season". This includes bringing more National League football matches as well as behind-the-scenes content directly into homes around the globe via their partnership with TikTok.

In addition to live-streaming games, both companies are also committed towards empowering clubs within the league. They plan on hosting workshops for all 72 National League clubs aimed at helping them maximize their use of TikTok as an engagement tool. These workshops will cover various aspects such as storytelling techniques, creating engaging live content and developing effective fan engagement strategies.

This partnership between DAZN and TikTok is a significant step towards revolutionizing the way fans consume football content. By making live matches more accessible and interactive, they are not only catering to existing sports fans but also attracting a new generation of viewers who primarily consume content on social media platforms. This move could potentially redefine the future of sports broadcasting.
