Tottenham manager has dismissed any chance of becoming manager of Three Lions

Tottenham Hotspur manager, Ange Postecoglou, has chosen to ignore the recent speculation linking him with the vacant England job. The news broke out this afternoon, suggesting that he could potentially replace Gareth Southgate as the next man to lead the England national side.

Postecoglou was back in Scotland where his Spurs side swept Hearts aside 5-1 at Tynecastle in a pre-season friendly. After the match, he was questioned about a report published by The Telegraph which claimed his name was on FA's shortlist for England's top job.

Unfinished Business at Tottenham

However, Postecoglou dismissed these claims stating that he has unfinished business at Tottenham Hotspur. He emphasized that since his move to English Premier League (EPL), there is still much left for him to achieve with Spurs.

When asked if taking up the role of England manager might interest him in future, Postecoglou remained non-committal and chose not to comment further on this matter.

Tottenham manager, Ange Postecoglou, said:

“Mate, I was having a nap this afternoon, so I’ve got no idea!”

“I’m Tottenham manager and I’m determined to bring success to this club, as I have with every other club I have been at. That’s where my focus is totally. We haven’t achieved anything yet, so until we achieve something, my work isn’t done.

“I reckon by the end of it there will probably be 100 on [their shortlist], so I’m in the top 100, thank you, that’s decent!”

“Mate, five years ago I was in Japan, and now I’m in the Premier League. Who knows where I’ll be in five years? I could be back in Japan, I could be on a beach somewhere, hopefully!

“It’s not something that enters my headspace, I’m Tottenham manager and I’m determined to bring success to this club. Nothing else is on my radar except for that.”

Controversial video yet to be discussed

In addition to addressing rumors about his potential move from EPL club management to international coaching duties, Postecoglou also touched upon another controversial topic involving some of his players.

Argentinian midfielder Enzo Fernandez had recently released a video which allegedly showed members of Lionel Scaloni's Copa America-winning team singing a song with racist content. This squad included Tottenham players Giovani Lo Celso and Romero. When asked if he had seen this clip and discussed it with Lo Celso and Romero yet, Postecoglou chose not to comment directly on it either.

Ange Postecoglou added:

“Only briefly mate, but again, I think with these things it’s the people who are affected who are the best judges of where it sits. I don’t get that stuff. I just don’t get in this day and age why you would even put that kind of stuff out for public consumption.

“I’m not even talking about that, I’m just talking even the celebrations, that used to be done behind closed doors and you would enjoy those moments for yourselves. But in terms of that specific thing, I haven’t looked at it too closely, but I’d be guided by the people most affected. They should guide our actions, I think.”

Despite being linked with one of football’s most prestigious jobs - managing the Three Lions - Ange Postecoglu remains focused on achieving success at Tottenham Hotspur. His dismissal of these rumors and his commitment to Spurs sends a clear message to the club's fans and players about his dedication.

While he also chose not to comment on the controversial video involving some of his players, it is evident that Postecoglou is keen on maintaining focus on football rather than getting drawn into off-field controversies or speculations. His approach underlines the professionalism expected from a manager at one of England’s top clubs.
