Having been in wait for four years, the English cricket summer is finally ready to witness the fierce Ashes series. During the last Ashes series on English soil in 2019, it was a memorable spectacle with thrilling matches. The Men’s Ashes will kick off on 16th June with another battle starting at Edgbaston.
Sky Sports, which has been home to cricket in the UK for a long time, has also announced their expert line-up for the series, adding even more spice to the already fierce rivalry between the two cricketing giants.
Men's Ashes will see big legends from England, Australia and around the world like Ian Ward, Nasser Hussain, Ricky Ponting, Mel Jones, Mark Taylor, Mike Atherton, Eoin Morgan, Kevin Pietersen, Kumar Sangakkara, Mark Butcher, Dinesh Karthik, and Sir Andrew Strauss (For 2nd Test only).
The Women's Ashes which will commence on 1st July will see Nick Knight, Isa Guha, Mel Jones, Simon Doull, Mark Butcher, Charlotte Edwards, Lydia Greenway, Lauren Winfield-Hill, and Charles Dagnalle providing their analysis.
Ashes 2023 is expected to reach new heights of thrill
The upcoming Ashes series will be much more than just an ordinary series between Australia and England; it will be a battle of supremacy and a battle between England and Australia's old-school tactics against the new-age tactics of England.
Currently, Australia is ranked as the number one Test team in the world and has been able to take over England's number in Tests over the past few years. In 2021, they managed to retain the Ashes in Australia 4-0 and will look to retain it again for the third time in a row. Though they did retain the Ashes 2019 on English turf, winning a series in England remains a mammoth task for Australians.
The English, on the other hand, will hope to continue their revolution and prove everyone wrong by defeating a team of the highest calibre like Australia in order to prove everyone wrong.
They have done wonders with their Bazzball tactics, but they still need to perform against a big opposition like Australia under pressure situations in difficult conditions in order to see how they do.
