Vietnam's state-owned media and telecoms giant, Viettel, has secured a three-season coverage deal for Germany's top-tier men's soccer league, the Bundesliga. The agreement covers the 2025-26, 2026-27, and 2027-28 seasons.
The deal was announced on August 12th with the TV360 over-the-top platform run by Viettel set to exclusively cover all nine Bundesliga games per matchday until the end of the 2027-28 season. This comes just in time for the kickoff of the 2025-26 Bundesliga campaign on August 22nd where champions Bayern Munich will face RB Leipzig.
Beyond providing coverage for all Bundesliga matches, Viettel has also secured the rights to broadcast other significant German football events. This includes the season-opening German Supercup fixture, which is set to take place between Bayern and VfB Stuttgart on August 16. Furthermore, Viettel will be at the forefront of fan engagement activities in Vietnam with an aim to foster interest and support for Bundesliga. This new arrangement signifies a departure from previous years when the Next Media group held exclusive distribution rights in Vietnam.
OneFootball’s role
OneFootball has been instrumental in providing live coverage of Bundesliga action as well as highlights and supplementary programming last season not only in Vietnam but also several other international markets.
The partnership between Viettel and DFL (Deutsche Fußball Liga), which organizes Germany’s professional football leagues including Bundesliga, is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen ties between DFL and Vietnam. Earlier this year, a memorandum of understanding was signed between these two entities while Werder Bremen from Bundesliga played against the Vietnamese national side in Hanoi city.
In recent weeks, Bundesliga rights for upcoming seasons have been acquired by subscription streaming service DAZN in Japan and pay-TV heavyweight Sky Italia. Domestically, live coverage of the league will be provided by Sky Deutschland and DAZN.
Unique opportunity for Viettel FC
The agreement also provides a unique opportunity for two players and a coach from the Viettel FC each season. These individuals will be sent to train at a top club in Germany as part of this deal.
Ms. Nguyễn Hà Thành, deputy general director of Viettel Telecom Corporation, said:
"We are proud to bring the Bundesliga – one of the world’s most prestigious football leagues – to Vietnamese fans through TV360 … This partnership reflects our commitment to delivering world-class football experiences and creating new opportunities for Vietnamese talents to connect with top clubs in Germany."
This partnership between Viettel and Bundesliga not only brings German football closer to Vietnamese fans but also opens up opportunities for local talent development.
