Tottenham Hotspur Football Club have officially confirmed the coaching staff of their new head coach, Roberto De Zerbi. However, former AC Milan defender Alessandro Nesta is not part of the team.

The club announced on Wednesday that Marcattilio Marcattilii and Marcello Quinto have joined as fitness coach and senior professional development phase coach respectively. These two appointments come after much speculation about who would be included in De Zerbi's backroom staff.

Marcattilii and De Zerbi share a long history together, having first worked with each other at Italian outfit Foggia in 2015. On the other hand, Quinto reunites with De Zerbi at Tottenham after they collaborated over the past three years at Brighton and Marseille.

Speculation around Alessandro Nesta

There had been rumors that World Cup winner Nesta might join Spurs' coaching staff. However, this has not materialized despite his impressive resume which includes a stint as head coach of Serie A club Monza in 2024. Unfortunately for him, Monza was relegated at the end of last season under his leadership.

Nesta also boasts managerial experience from Miami FC, Perugia, Frosinone and Reggiana.

Spurs have also confirmed that assistant Bruno Saltor will remain on board alongside Andreas Georgson, Cameron Campbell and Fabian Otte who all joined earlier this summer. Dean Brill and Stuart Lewis will continue supporting the first team following their spells within Tottenham's youth coaching setup.

Challenge ahead for De Zerbi

Roberto De Zerbi was announced as Spurs' new manager on a five-year deal earlier this month with an aim to lift them out of their current relegation battle. As it stands now, the team is 17th in the Premier League table, just one point above the bottom three.

De Zerbi is the third manager this season to take charge of Spurs after Thomas Frank was sacked following an eight-month tenure. Igor Tudor then took over as interim head coach but left after managing only one win in seven matches.

The appointment of De Zerbi and his chosen coaching staff marks a new chapter for Tottenham Hotspur. The club and its fans will be hoping that this change brings about a much-needed turnaround in their fortunes.
