The upcoming Spanish Super Cup matches has found a new home on Italian television and streaming platforms. Mediapason Group, a prominent media organization, has secured linear broadcast rights while Cronache di Spogliatoio (Locker Room Chronicles), a soccer-focused media outlet, has obtained the streaming rights.

Mediapason will broadcast the four-team, three-game Super Cup competition free-to-air across Italy on its range of regional networks. This includes Lombardy’s Telelombardia (Channel 10). The move is expected to increase viewership for the games among Italian sports fans.

Cronache di Spogliatoio streams competition on YouTube

In addition to traditional broadcasting, Cronache di Spogliatoio will stream the games for free on YouTube. With over 483,000 subscribers on its channel, this platform provides an accessible way for fans worldwide to tune into the action.

The 2025 Spanish Super Cup is scheduled from January 8-12 in Saudi Arabia. The two semi-finals are set for January 8 and 9 respectively with the final game taking place on January 12. All three games will be held at Jeddah’s King Abdullah Sports City Stadium which boasts a capacity of over 62 thousand spectators. This marks the second time that this venue hosts these matches; it first did so in 2020 after Riyadh had been hosting them for three consecutive editions.

The semi-final matchups feature some of Spain's top football clubs: Real Madrid - LaLiga champions - will face Mallorca - Copa del Rey domestic cup runner-up; while Barcelona - LaLiga runner-up - will compete against Athletic Club – Copa del Rey winner.

The Italian connection

Interestingly, no Italian players are currently active in LaLiga. Mallorca center back Marash Kumbulla, although born in Italy, represents Albania. This lack of local representation could be a factor as to why the broadcast rights have been acquired by two outsider networks instead of major TV and streaming operators such as Rai, Sky Italia or DAZN.

The Spanish Super Cup's new broadcasting and streaming arrangements in Italy promise to bring this exciting football competition closer to Italian sports fans. Whether they're watching on television or online through YouTube, viewers can look forward to thrilling matches featuring some of Spain's top football clubs.
