Under the new deal, Sky Deutschland will cover all 380 season games, with over 280 live broadcasts

Germany's leading pay-TV broadcaster, Sky Deutschland, has announced a significant extension to its rights deal with the English Premier League (EPL). The agreement will see Sky Deutschland continue as the home of EPL in Germany until the end of the 2030-31 season.

The EPL is home to many top-tier German players who have made their mark on English football. This makes it an attractive proposition for football fans in Germany. The extended deal ensures that these fans can continue to follow their favorite players and teams through every twist and turn of each season.

Under this new agreement, all 380 games per season will be covered by Sky Deutschland. Over 280 of these matches will be broadcast live, ensuring comprehensive coverage for avid sports fans. The deal also extends beyond Germany's borders into Austria and Switzerland. It includes public screening rights through the Sky Business service, allowing restaurants, hotels, and other public places to broadcast games.

Previous agreements

Sky Deutschland's current tie-up with the Premier League runs from 2025-26 through to 2027-28 - a deal that was unveiled back in February of 2024. This latest extension builds on an already strong relationship between Sky Deutschland and the EPL which began back in 2022.

Paul Molnar, the Premier League chief media officer, said:

"Sky is a world-class broadcaster that stands out for its high-quality productions, professional editorial standards, and its long-standing commitment to comprehensive and innovative football coverage. We look forward to building on our strong collaboration to bring the Premier League even closer to our passionate fans across the region, who have a deep-rooted and enduring connection to the competition."

German national team stars such as Kai Havertz at Arsenal champions, Florian Wirtz at Liverpool and Fulham's Bernd Leno are among those contracted to Premier League clubs adding further allure for German viewership. In addition to the EPL, Sky Deutschland also holds broadcasting rights for England's lower-league EFL. Domestically, it covers Germany's top-tier Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal cup competition. The Bundesliga deal is set to run through the 2028-29 campaign.

The EPL will also be covered domestically and live next season by Sky Sports and TNT Sports, ensuring a broad spectrum of coverage for fans across different platforms. This extended deal between Sky Deutschland and the English Premier League not only reinforces their existing relationship but also ensures that German football fans can continue to enjoy comprehensive coverage of one of the world's most popular football leagues.
