The Red Devils registered thumping victory against Everton

Manchester United new manager, Ruben Amorim, has made it clear that there is still "a lot to do" at Old Trafford. This statement comes despite his team's impressive 4-0 victory over Everton, marking his first Premier League win. The match saw Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee each score twice, showcasing the team’s clinical edge and propelling them to ninth place in the league table.

However, despite this significant win, Amorim was not entirely satisfied with his team’s performance. He believes that there are areas for improvement and growth as they continue their journey under his leadership.

Ruben Amorim, Manchester United manager, said:

"It was far from a perfect performance, We have to improve, you can feel that in the game. After 15 minutes, Everton controlled the game, and it was difficult for us and we were losing the second ball.

"I felt that the players could solve some problems that we have as a team because of the quality that they have, but it was far from a perfect performance, but a really good result and tough match."

Early days at Old Trafford

Amorim has been at the helm of Manchester United for just three games so far. His tenure began with a 2-2 draw against Ipswich Town before securing a 3-2 victory over Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Europa League fixture.

The Portuguese manager took over from Erik ten Hag amidst concerns about team morale during Hag’s reign. When asked about any changes in player mood since he took charge, Amorim remained tight-lipped but emphasized on focusing on improving performances on the pitch.

Ruben Amorim added:

"It helps to have a new face, it always helps, We have to be very clear to our fans and this will always help.

"Rather than trying to convince the fans about this performance, we have a lot to do, it will take time. Sometimes we are not playing well but defended everyone together. Our fans just ask for hard work and then in time they will ask for better football."

Upcoming challenges

United have a challenging schedule ahead of them as they face Arsenal midweek before hosting Nottingham Forest next weekend. Following these matches is an away game against Plzen in the UEFA Europa League - an event that will be broadcast live on TNT Sports and discovery+.

Perhaps one of the most anticipated fixtures for Amorim will be when he leads his side to Etihad Stadium for a Manchester derby against Manchester City - an encounter he is no stranger to having previously led Sporting Lisbon to a comprehensive 4-1 victory over City in the UEFA Champions League fixture.

While it may be early days in Amorim's tenure at Manchester United, his initial impressions and results have been promising. However, the Portuguese manager is not one to rest on his laurels. Despite a big win over Everton, he insists there is still much work to be done. As the team prepares for their upcoming fixtures, fans and sports betting enthusiasts alike will be watching closely to see how Amorim's leadership continues to shape this new era of Manchester United football.
