Former Manchester United player, Rio Ferdinand, has landed a new job following his surprising departure from TNT Sports. The 46-year-old football legend is set to embark on an exciting journey that will take him several hours away from England and into the heart of Thailand.
Ferdinand is scheduled to attend an EA Sports event in Thailand on June 14th. The event, officially titled "Visa Presents EA Sports FC Mobile Festival," will see Ferdinand hosting a Q&A session and participating in a FC Mobile Showmatch alongside some of the E-sports stars present.
In addition to these duties, he will also be presenting the winner's trophy along with a £22,000 prize up for grabs on June 15th. Confirming his new role via social media, Ferdinand expressed his excitement about heading to Bangkok where "passion, skill and football culture collide."
Departure from TNT Sports
This new venture comes after Ferdinand confirmed he would be leaving TNT sports following the conclusion of the 2024/25 Champions League final. This marked an end to his ten-year stint with the broadcaster. In an Instagram post announcing his departure, he described it as a 'difficult' decision but outlined plans to focus more on developing his own media company.
Prior to leaving TNT Sports and before the Champions League final took place, Ferdinand was forced off punditry duties due to a health scare that resulted in hospitalization in May. However, he made a full recovery and returned for Europa League final on May 21st - which saw Manchester United beaten by Tottenham with a scoreline of 1-0.
Ferdinand enjoyed an illustrious playing career during which he won six Premier League titles at Manchester United, as well as two League Cups and a Champions League. The former centre-back also boasts 81 England caps to his name and has represented West Ham, Leeds and QPR during his 20-year run as a footballer.
