Petr Cech, the former Chelsea and Arsenal player, has recently shared his insights regarding the transfer of new Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky. The 21-year-old Czech Republic native signed with Tottenham last Sunday after making a significant impact in his homeland with Slavia Prague.
Kinsky made an impressive debut during Wednesday evening's 1-0 Carabao Cup semi-final first leg win over Liverpool. His performance was marked by several top saves and commendable play with the ball at his feet. This promising start suggests that he could potentially challenge Guglielmo Vicario for the No.1 spot in the coming months.
Chelsea’s interest in Kinsky
Interestingly, had circumstances been different, Kinsky might have been playing for Chelsea instead of Tottenham. According to Cech, who served as Chelsea technical and performance advisor post-retirement, Chelsea had scouted Kinsky during his time at Stamford Bridge.
Peter Cech, Chelsea goalkeeper, said:
"I remember the moment when Antonin Kinsky was still playing for the national team Under-16s. A game when we watched him and when we scouted him for our own club, so of course you want to see other goalies in all age groups as well,"
"You could see that he was strong, with his legs, you could see that he actually had a good starting position and he was actually helping the team at the back to launch attacks."
Cech revealed that the West London club had taken a close look at this talented shot-stopper before he signed up with their city rivals.
Comparisons between Cech and Kinksy
Given their shared nationality and goalkeeping skills, comparisons between Petr Cech and Antonin Kinksy are inevitable. However, such comparisons do not surprise or bother Petr Cech himself.
This transfer is certainly one that will be closely watched by sports fans - particularly those interested in football - as well as sports betting enthusiasts who may be keen on predicting Kinsky's future performance.
