Sources indicate that Nottingham have reached out to Sean Dyche as a possible replacement for Postecoglou

In a shocking turn of events, Nottingham Forest Football Club has dismissed head coach Ange Postecoglou. The decision came just 17 minutes after the team's 3-0 defeat by Chelsea at the City Ground on Saturday.

Postecoglou's dismissal, which occurred only 39 days after his appointment on September 9th, marks the shortest permanent managerial reign in Premier League history. His tenure was marked by a series of disappointing results and performances that left fans and club officials dissatisfied.

During his stint at Forest, Postecoglou failed to secure any victories in his eight matches in charge. His record includes two draws and six defeats across all competitions. Under his leadership, Forest managed to collect just one point from five Premier League matches. The lackluster performance left the team teetering precariously above the relegation zone in 17th place upon Postecoglou's departure. Following later games that day, they slipped into the bottom three.

Search for replacement begins

BBC Sport sources reveal that Nottingham Forest has already initiated contact with ex-Everton manager Sean Dyche as a potential replacement for Postecoglou. Roberto Mancini, former Manchester City manager is also being considered as another possible candidate for this crucial role.

Nottingham Forest released statement:

"Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect,"

"The club will make no further comment at this time."

Post-match events unfolded dramatically when club owner Evangelos Marinakis was seen leaving his seat around the 67th minute during their game against Chelsea. However, he did not personally deliver news of dismissal to Postecoglou; instead, a senior club official informed the 60-year-old coach.

Postecoglou bid farewell to his players with an apology for not being able to deliver what he was brought in to do. His staff, including Nick Montgomery, Mile Jedinak and Sergio Raimundo are also expected to depart from the club. The news of Postecoglou's dismissal has been met with mixed reactions from fans. Many supporters were seen heading for the exit when Reece James put Chelsea 3-0 up six minutes from time. The full-time whistle was met with jeers from home fans expressing their disappointment at the team's performance.
