After Liverpool's 3-3 draw with Leeds United, Salah accused the club of scapegoating him for their recent poor performance

In a recent explosive interview, Liverpool player, Mohamed Salah, took aim at Jamie Carragher and the club's management. The 33-year-old forward expressed his frustration over being benched for three consecutive games and hinted at an imminent exit from the team.

Salah approached the media after Liverpool’s 3-3 draw against Leeds United. He accused the club of throwing him "under the bus" by making him a scapegoat for their recent poor performance. He also revealed that he no longer has a relationship with manager Arne Slot and accused the club of breaking promises made to him.

The Egyptian footballer is currently third on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list with 250 goals but was omitted from playing after they lost six out of their previous seven league games. This marked a significant shift as he had never previously been left out for two consecutive matches before sitting out in these last three games.

Calling out Jamie Carragher

In addition to criticizing his own club, Salah also called out Reds legend-turned-pundit Jamie Carragher. The two have shared a love-hate relationship over time, with Carragher often criticizing Salah's performance.

Mo Salah, Liverpool player, said:

“After what I have done for the club it really hurts. You can imagine, really. After going from home to the club and you don’t know if you are starting. I know the club too well, I have been here many years. Tomorrow Carragher is going to go for me again and again and that’s fine.”

“How I see it now is like you throw Mo under the bus because he is the problem in the team now. But I don't think I am the problem. I have done so much for this club.

“The respect, I want to get. I don't have to go every day fighting for my position because I earned it. I am not bigger than anyone but I earned my position. It's football. It is what it is.”

Carragher recently claimed that Salah’s “legs were gone” following his lackluster performance this season where he managed only five goals in all competitions despite signing a lucrative two-year contract in April. This comment did not sit well with Salah who felt that it contributed to turning public opinion against him.

Uncertain future ahead

Last season, Salah equalled a Premier League record by contributing to 47 goals - scoring 29 himself and assisting in another 18 - but lost his place on the team in November due to underperformance.

He has now cast doubt on his future at Anfield by saying he will wave goodbye to Liverpool fans against Brighton next week. He also expressed uncertainty about what will happen after the African Cup of Nations.

Salah's explosive interview has stirred up controversy and speculation about his future with Liverpool. His criticism of Carragher and the club's management reflects his dissatisfaction with how he has been treated recently. As one of Liverpool's top scorers, Salah’s potential departure could significantly impact the team’s performance in upcoming matches. Fans and pundits alike are eagerly waiting to see how this situation unfolds.
