The deal includes all qualifiers and the UEFA Nations League, marking a significant milestone in Indonesia's sports broadcasting landscape

MNC Media & Entertainment, through its wholly-owned subsidiary PT Rajawali Citra Televisi Indonesia (RCTI), has successfully secured exclusive broadcasting rights for the UEFA EURO 2024 and 2028.

UEFA EURO is one of the most anticipated events in global football. It consistently attracts high audience shares and ratings due to its popularity among sports enthusiasts worldwide. Particularly in Indonesia, where football fanatics are abundant, these events serve as major drivers for viewership and engagement.

Hary Tanoesoedibjo, Executive Chairman of MNC Group, said:

“MNCN is always committed in delivering high quality content to its audience, and this includes top sports tournament like UEFA EURO. We are convinced that striking the right balance between entertainment and sports is essential to maintain high viewership as well as increasing substantial commercial opportunities.

The UEFA EURO is a major international football tournament that captures the attention of millions of football fans around the world. We believe that this will create more rooms for advertising, sponsorships, and partnerships, which can be lucrative for the Group’s ecosystem”.

In 2021 alone, RCTI managed to garner an all-time audience share of 25.3%. However, during the period of UEFA EURO (11 June -12 July), the average audience share for all matches stood at an impressive 38.1%, with a staggering peak at a whopping 50.3% during the final match.

Despite numerous challenges faced by the media industry recently, securing this event's broadcast rights will act as a catalyst for MNCN to regain strength and captivate audiences while attracting more advertisers.

Prominent sporting programs like UEFA EURO are expected to bring positive impacts towards other programs too

Events like EURO 2024 boost audience shares and ratings, especially for programs scheduled before or after these events which ultimately increases performance across the Company’s Free-to-Air (FTA) TVs.

With this deal in place, Indonesian audiences can access live broadcasts of UEFA EURO matches through various platforms under MNC Media & Entertainment’s umbrella including FTA TV, Pay TV as well as their Subscription Video On Demand (SVOD) superapp Vision+. Additionally, non-match-related content and activation programs for the event will be made available on their Advertising Video On Demand (AVOD) super app, RCTI+.

UEFA EURO 2024 is set to kick off in Munich on Friday, 14 June 2024, and will conclude with the final match in Berlin on 14 July 2024.
