Potential for four simultaneous matches to be watched at once found in Apple update beta code

Fans of the MLS Season Pass on Apple TV+ have even more reason to be excited, as reports suggest that the app may be about to implement a multiview capability, which would enable users to watch several MLS games simultaneously.

It is understood that Steve Moser from MacRumors has found code in the beta testing for the next Apple update which suggests that Apple TV+ and the MLS Season Pass may be about to get a big boost.

The MLS Season Pass has already been making positive headlines, with people praising it for its picture quality.

When the 2023 MLS regular season began last month, Apple TV+ entered the first season of its 10-year agreement with Major League Soccer (MLS) to broadcast every match of the season.

It has begun with a bang with users and critics widely pleased with this new way of watching top flight US soccer.

Now those same subscribers may be about to get a huge upgrade in the form of a multiview feature which would allow them to keep track of several soccer matches at the same time.

The MLS has been boosted in the last 12 months by the arrivals of star players like Lorenzo Insigne, Riqui Puig and Xherdan Shaqiri, as well as big name coaches like Wayne Rooney and Phil Neville, as the appetite for soccer among Americans continues to grow every year.

It is believed that this new feature could be available as early as April.

This feature could be extended across sports

For fans of other sports, this news could also be quite a bombshell.

According to reports, the code found in the beta testing suggests that Apple could even enable this feature across sports, meaning a user could live stream a soccer match and a basketball game at the same time, for example.

ESPN and Fubo are both already running similar technology successfully and their versions enable the user to follow several soccer matches from different leagues and competitions at the same time.

Apple TV+ may take this a step further by introducing the option to watch multiple sports at once. However, before it does, it may need to beef up its overall sports rights portfolio, as at the moment its MLS Season Pass is very much the jewel in the crown of an otherwise limited haul of sports broadcast rights on the American market.
