Manchester United, the renowned English football club, is reportedly in negotiations for a late deal that could see Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee exit the team. This development comes after initial resistance from the Red Devils to an offer from AS Roma earlier in January.
AS Roma had shown interest in acquiring Zirkzee on an initial loan with an option to buy. However, this proposal did not sit well with Manchester United who preferred a permanent transfer for the player. According to Corriere dello Sport, despite this resistance, Zirkzee was keen on making a move to Roma.
However, time has passed since then and circumstances have changed. With AS Roma having signed Donyell Malen and Juventus missing out on multiple striker targets, it seems Juventus is now showing interest in the Manchester United player.
Possible loan exit
Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Michael Carrick’s side are reconsidering their stance on Zirkzee’s exit. They are now open to letting him depart on what is referred as a 'dry loan'. This type of loan would mean that there would be no obligation or option for Juventus to buy at the end of his term. In addition, ongoing negotiations between Juventus and Manchester United have been reported by various sources. The consensus appears to be that Zirkzee wants out of Manchester United and there remains a possibility he could seal a late exit deal before the winter window closes.
Many clubs are considering Zirkzee as an alternative option due to the complexities surrounding other potential transfers, such as that of Randal Kolo Muani from Spurs. The intricacies involved in a deal for Muani are primarily due to two factors. Firstly, there is limited time left in the winter transfer window, which adds pressure to finalize negotiations swiftly.
Secondly, before any move can be made for Muani, he first needs to depart from Spurs. Additionally complicating matters is the fact that an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for his transfer has yet to be established. As a result of these challenges, Zirkzee's potential move appears much more straightforward and feasible. In contrast, a deal with Zirkzee represents a much simpler option. The Dutch international has expressed his interest in moving back to Italy, making him an attractive prospect for Italian clubs.
As the winter transfer window draws to a close, Manchester United's late deal negotiations for Joshua Zirkzee's exit are progressing. With Juventus showing interest and the player himself keen on moving back to Italy, it seems likely that we may see this Dutch striker donning new colors soon. However, as with all transfer dealings, only time will tell how these negotiations will ultimately unfold.
