The Manchester City mascot, Moonbeam, alleges that she was hit on the back of her head by Haaland

Manchester City has launched an investigation into an incident involving their striker, Erling Haaland. The inquiry comes after allegations that the player left a mascot with a concussion and whiplash before a game against Southampton.

According to reports, the mascot claims she suffered from whiplash and concussion after being playfully "hit" by Haaland. The woman, who works as the alien mascot Moonbeam for Manchester City, alleges that she took a knock to the back of her head from Haaland before their Premier League home game against Southampton last October.

The temporary staff worker, who wishes to remain anonymous, reported experiencing symptoms such as vomiting and neck pain following the incident. She also claimed to have been concussed. Despite reporting this incident to the police, it appears that Manchester City's internal investigation has not yielded any significant results.

Medical reports confirm symptoms but no damage

Medical notes from Salford Royal’s A&E confirmed her symptoms of concussion and whiplash. However, a CT scan revealed no damage had been done. Greater Manchester Police informed her that they believed Haaland 'had not acted with malice'. Despite these findings, she accused Manchester City of trying to keep this quiet in an attempt to protect their player's reputation.

She said: “I’m sure Erling would have apologised to me if they had given him the chance. But they just wanted to sweep it under the carpet.”

While investigations are ongoing at Man City regarding this matter - it serves as a reminder for all clubs about maintaining a safe and respectful environment for everyone involved in the game.

Manchester City's response

A spokesperson from Manchester City has been approached by The Sun for a comment on this matter. As of now, there is no official statement from the club regarding these allegations against Erling Haaland.

Manchester City spokesperson said:

“It fully investigated and found that none of the evidence, including video footage, backed up the claim that an injury was sustained in the manner alleged. We’re also aware a complaint was made to Greater Manchester Police and no further action was taken by them either.”

While it is important to remember that these are currently just allegations, they do highlight the need for clubs to take such incidents seriously. It also underscores the importance of maintaining an open line of communication between players and staff members to ensure any issues can be addressed promptly and appropriately.
