Cityzens have reportedly decided to do everything to make Guardiola stay at Etihad

Manchester City executives have reportedly proposed a rolling contract offer to their manager, Pep Guardiola. This move comes as the 53-year-old's current contract at the Etihad Stadium is set to expire at the end of next season.

Since his arrival from Bayern Munich in 2016, Guardiola has signed three previous contract extensions. The upcoming 2024/25 campaign will mark his ninth season with the Sky Blues. During this tenure, he has led Manchester City to win 17 major trophies including a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title this season.

Guardiola also guided the Blues to victory in both FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup this season. Notably, he managed Manchester City to secure their maiden UEFA Champions League trophy in June 2023 as part of a seismic treble triumph.

Upcoming challenges for Guardiola

The Catalan is set for another challenging year ahead as he prepares Manchester City for an expanded 32-team FIFA Club World Cup next summer in the United States. In addition, they will be bidding for a fifth successive Premier League title and aiming high in the newly-formatted Champions League next season.

There have been rumors about both Pep Guardiola and sporting director Txiki Begiristain potentially leaving east Manchester after their contracts expire in 2025. To mitigate these fears, Etihad executives have proposed a new deal that includes an initial one-year extension with a rolling twelve-month renewal review thereafter.

According to insider 'Tolmie’s Hairdoo', such an arrangement would allow Guardiola to complete ten years of management at Manchester City while also opening up possibilities for him becoming head coach at sister-club New York City FC in future.

Recent meeting with Sheikh Mansour

Guardiola was part of a senior delegation that travelled to Abu Dhabi to meet Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour this week. The meeting, which also included Khaldoon Al Mubarak, Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain, was held at the Palace of the Nation where the Sky Blues’ latest silverware success was showcased.

The proposed contract extension is a testament to Guardiola's successful tenure with Manchester City. As sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts alike watch closely, it remains to be seen how this potential deal will shape the future of one of football's most successful clubs.
