Greenwood likely to stay in LaLiga after productive season with Getafe

Manchester United has set a hefty £50 million price tag on their striker, Mason Greenwood. This comes as Atletico Madrid and Barcelona show interest in signing the player for the upcoming season.

Atletico Madrid has expressed interest in signing Mason Greenwood for the summer season. However, Manchester United is not letting go of their star player without a fight, slapping a £50 million price tag on his head.

Despite some factions within the club advocating for his return to Old Trafford, it seems likely that Red Devils will allow him to depart. The LaLiga side was informed that an initial asking price around £50m would be required to secure Greenwood's services - even though he would only have one year left on his deal in England. However, sources close from Spain suggest that Atletico may not be prepared to meet this valuation at present.

Barcelona closely following the situation at Old Trafford

In addition to attracting attention from Spain's capital city team, Barcelona has also shown interest in securing Greenwood's talents. This follows after Man Utd executives John Murtough and Matt Hargreaves met with Barcelona sporting director Deco earlier this week in Catalonia capital.

The meeting was attended by CAA Base co-founder Frank Trimboli and agent Federico Massai which further fuelled speculations about potential negotiations regarding Greenwood’s transfer.

Getafe’s move has again kickstart Greenwood’s career

Greenwood was sent on loan to LaLiga club Getafe for the remainder of the current season but it’s highly improbable that he will continue with the Madrid-based club for next campaign given recent developments.

Erik ten Hag, meanwhile, made it abundantly clear that he would welcome back Greenwood and expressed dissatisfaction over seeing him moved last summer. His sentiments echo those of many fans who are eager to see what future holds for this promising young talent.

As the summer transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on Greenwood and his potential move. With a hefty price tag and interest from two major football clubs, it's clear that Greenwood's future in football is bright. Whether he ends up in Atletico Madrid or Barcelona, or makes a return to Manchester United, remains to be seen.
