The Ipswich Town star is on wishlist of big Premier League clubs

Ipswich Town forward, Liam Delap, has been making waves in the Premier League. Despite rumours linking him to bigger clubs like Liverpool and Chelsea, the 21-year-old insists his focus remains solely on Ipswich Town.

Ipswich Town player, Liam Delap, said:

‘I don’t really look at things like that. So, yes, I’m just focused on Ipswich,’ Delap told Suffolk News.

‘We are lucky to be playing in the Premier League. I think we’ve got a great opportunity here at Ipswich and we’re just trying to show our ability week in, week out, that’s a big plus for me.’

Delap joined Ipswich from Manchester City over the summer in a deal worth £20m. The England Under-21 international signed a five-year contract with his current club. However, after a series of impressive performances this season - scoring seven goals in 18 Premier League games - he is already being linked with another move.

Potential moves

Chelsea and Liverpool have both been suggested as possible destinations for the young striker. Yet, Delap maintains that he is not interested in such speculation. His primary concern is continuing to deliver strong results for Ipswich Town following their recent 2-0 victory over Chelsea.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has openly expressed his admiration for Delap who he coached during his time at Manchester City. This connection could potentially influence future transfer decisions.

Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, said:

‘Liam is a fantastic player and also for his age. I think we spent one year together and I think he scored 22, 24 goals and he is a very good striker,’ said the Blues boss before the recent meeting with Ipswich.

‘In England, they have many like him and they have many good players, good strikers and he’s working hard off the ball, on the ball he understands the game and can score goals. And also because of his age, I think he can be an important player for England.’

Buy-back clause

Interestingly, there may be an opportunity for Delap’s former club Manchester City to reacquire him if bids start coming in for the striker due to a buy-back clause included in his contract when transferring to Ipswich Town.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed this clause's existence but did not disclose its value. He also revealed that there is a sell-on clause worth around 20 per cent which could cost Ipswich significantly if they decide to sell elsewhere.

While transfer rumours continue swirling around Liam Delap's future career path, it appears that the young star remains committed solely on performing well for Ipswich Town at present. Whether or not we will see him donning jerseys of other major clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea or even returning to Manchester City remains a topic of speculation. For now, fans and sports betting enthusiasts will be keeping a close eye on this promising player's career trajectory.
