Mbappe believes that this could be the year for Arsenal to finally clinch the trophy

Despite a record-breaking transfer spree, Liverpool may not clinch the Premier League title this season, according to French footballer Kylian Mbappe. The Paris Saint-Germain forward has suggested that the trophy might be heading elsewhere, potentially to Arsenal or Manchester City.

Liverpool has made headlines with its stunning summer spending spree. The club broke British records by spending over £400m in one transfer window. This included a whopping £125m on Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak and an additional £200m on marquee signings Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.

This incredible investment has only strengthened Liverpool’s claim to be the favourites for the Premier League title. However, despite their perfect start to the season with three wins from three games, Mbappe believes that they may still miss out on top honours.

Who will clinch the title?

When pressed for his prediction on who would win the Premier League title this year, Mbappe picked surprising name.

Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid striker, said:

‘Of course, Liverpool has to be mentioned first and foremost, as they’re determined to win one title after another. But I also have high hopes for Arsenal, because the core of the team has known each other for a long time, and that’s a crucial factor in football.

‘And Manchester City is always at the forefront anyway, with Pep Guardiola and Erling Haaland. Maybe Arsenal, maybe it will be their year. It would certainly be easier to say Man City or Liverpool.’

Arsenal have been runners-up for two consecutive seasons and currently sit third in the league table behind Chelsea and leaders Liverpool. Meanwhile, Manchester City - arguably one of the most dominant teams of this era - are languishing down in 13th place after losing two of their first three games.

Unpredictable start to the season

The start of this season has already seen some thrilling matches and unexpected results. Arne Slot’s side beat Bournemouth in a six-goal thriller on opening day before scoring a dramatic injury-time winner against Newcastle.

Dominik Szoboszlai then secured another victory for Liverpool with a stunning free-kick against title rivals Arsenal before the international break. This has left Liverpool two points clear at the top of the Premier League, with Chelsea currently second.

While it's still early days in the season, Mbappe's prediction adds an interesting twist to what is shaping up to be a highly competitive Premier League campaign. Whether his forecast will come true remains to be seen. However, one thing is certain: football fans and sports betting enthusiasts alike will be watching closely as this exciting season unfolds.
