With their portfolio expanding every year, DAZN are exploring streaming options

DAZN, the renowned international sports streaming service, has recently announced its plans to launch its app on Sky’s platform in the UK by 2024. This development will allow Sky customers to sign up for DAZN’s services via various platforms such as Sky Glass, Sky Stream, and Sky Q.

Shay Segev, DAZN Group chief executive, said:

“This is excellent news for both DAZN and Sky customers. It makes it even easier to access the DAZN app in the UK and Ireland.

“DAZN’s distribution strategy is to be as accessible to as many sports fans as possible, and Sky’s technology will help us get into more homes across the UK and Ireland.”

Subscribers will have access to a diverse range of sports content. This includes boxing and MMA matchups along with soccer matches from UEFA Women’s Champions League and Saudi Pro League matches.

One of the highlights of DAZN's boxing content is fights featuring British boxer Anthony Joshua who signed a long-term broadcast deal with the streaming service in 2022. This marked an end to his nine-year partnership with Sky.

In addition, NFL Game Pass service is also available through the DAZN app which includes live games from America's top football league, magazine programming, and archive content.

DAZN also recently introduced a freemium tier in Germany

Earlier this month, DAZN revealed details about its soon-to-be-launched freemium tier that aims at making a range of live content available without any subscription charges. Each week registered users can enjoy selected live matches from their rights portfolio for free on both the DAZN platform and partner channels.

The freemium service is set to be launched initially in Germany by this month-end before it goes global early next year. The company hopes that this initiative will help attract new subscribers who might want to try out their free services first.

Despite operating at a loss of $1.06 billion last year (an improvement from $1.35 billion loss in 2021), DAZN Group managed impressive revenue growth last year bringing in $2.19 billion - marking a significant increase by 41% YoY.

Operating in over 200 countries with key markets including Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, the US, and Canada - DAZN has been making strides in the sports streaming industry. It has been recently reported that DAZN is considering raising as much as $1 billion in capital to secure more top-tier streaming rights.

The partnership between DAZN and Sky marks a significant milestone for both companies. With an extensive range of sports content and a new freemium service on the horizon, DAZN is poised to attract more subscribers while enhancing its global presence. The company's ambitious plans for growth underscore its commitment to providing high-quality sports content to fans around the world.
