beIN Sports went above and beyond to provide viewers with extensive, easily accessible coverage in the MENA region

BeIN Media Group, the parent company of beIN Sports, has been awarded the prestigious ‘Most Successful Sports Event Broadcast’ award at the 2023 Sports Business Awards. This recognition marks the fifth accolade bestowed on beIN this year for its exceptional coverage of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 matches.

The award is a testament to beIN Sport's comprehensive and exclusive coverage of the historic FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. As an official broadcaster in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), beIN sports went above and beyond in delivering extensive coverage that was easily accessible to viewers.

Mohammad Al-Subaie, CEO of beIN MENA, said:

“We are truly honoured to receive this prestigious award, which underlines our commitment to providing unparalleled sports content to fans around the world. The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 holds a special place in the hearts of sports enthusiasts and we are proud to have played a pivotal role in bringing the magic of this event to our viewers in the MENA region.”

This marked a significant milestone as it was the first time that a FIFA World Cup event was hosted in an Arab country. The channel set new broadcasting standards by leveraging six new high-definition channels, over twenty studios, and a team comprising more than 120 analysts.

beIN’s linear channels amassed an impressive cumulative viewership of 5.4 billion views

Throughout this month-long spectacle, beIN’s linear channels amassed an impressive cumulative viewership of 5.4 billion views. The final match alone attracted a record-breaking audience of 242.8 million viewers - equivalent to approximately 68% of MENA’s adult population.

Moreover, beIn Sport YouTube channel recorded cumulative viewership figures reaching up to 25 million for just the final match itself while setting a regional record with simultaneous viewership peaking at around 4.4 million people.

Across all social media platforms owned by beIn Sports, accounts generated staggering numbers with over one billion video views and five-and-a-half billion impressions.

The annual Sports Business Awards are judged by influential Chief Executives from various sports governing bodies worldwide who celebrate businesses within their industry while recognising organisations, teams or individuals excelling in their roles.

This latest accolade adds to beIN’s growing list of achievements in the media and entertainment industry. The network has secured five awards this year alone for its coverage of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, including recognitions from SPIA – Sports Industry Awards, MENA Digital Awards, and the BroadcastPro ME Awards.
