Spurs are set to miss their first-choice left-back Destiny Udogie for Europa League clash

Tottenham Hotspur is set to face Ferencvaros in the Europa League fixture tomorrow night. The match is anticipated to be a routine win for Spurs, who have been on a winning streak recently. However, the inclusion of Sergio Reguilon in the squad has raised some eyebrows.

After an uncertain start to the season, Tottenham Hotspur has found its rhythm and is shaping up into the team that Ange Postecoglou envisioned. The Lilywhites have registered four consecutive wins and secured back-to-back clean sheets away from home. Their ruthlessness in front of goal has been particularly noteworthy with players like Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke showcasing exceptional form.

The team kicked off their Europa League journey with a 3-0 victory over Azerbaijan Premier League champions Qarabag last week. They are now looking forward to asserting their status as one of the favourites to win this competition with another statement performance against Ferencvaros.

Sergio Reguilon's inclusion explained

Despite injuries and suspensions sidelining Destiny Udogie and Radu Dragusin, Postecoglou has decided to include Sergio Reguilon in his squad for this crucial match-up. Discussing his decision with Football.London, Postecoglou explained why he believes Reguilon will be an asset during this game.

Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham Hotspur manager, said:

“Destiny hasn’t travelled. Nothing significant, but didn’t makes sense to bring him if he wasn’t going to play. Radu is suspended and Sonny is back in London doing rehab. Sergio [Reguilon] is a Tottenham player, that’s why he’s here. We like to have 20 players for training, we’ve also brought some young players. They had a game last night and we didn’t want to disrupt them too much.”

While on paper it may seem like an easy fixture for Spurs, it's important not to underestimate Ferencvaros who currently lead Hungary’s top-tier league by three points - even having a game still at hand. They've remained unbeaten domestically throughout eight games this season while conceding only two goals during that period. Ferencvaros' defensive prowess combined with what promises to be a hostile Hungarian crowd could pose a challenge for Spurs.

The importance of winning these games

Regardless of Ferencvaros' current form and their resilient style of play, it's crucial for a club like Spurs to secure victories in these fixtures. Matches against teams like Qarabag, Ferencvaros, and Elfsborg from the less competitive leagues across Europe should be straightforward wins if Spurs are serious about winning the competition.

While Tottenham Hotspur is in good form and expected to win against Ferencvaros, they must not underestimate their opponents. With Reguilon's inclusion in the squad and Postecoglou's strategic planning, fans can look forward to an exciting match-up.
