Premier League Productions is moving its production operations in-house

Andy Beale, a renowned figure in the sports technology industry, has been announced as the new director of technology at The Premier League. This appointment comes amidst significant changes within the organization, particularly with regards to its production operations.

Premier League Productions is currently in the process of transitioning its production operations in-house. This move follows the termination of their relationship with IMG, which previously served as their production outfit. The decision to establish an in-house media operations business was announced back in November last year and is set to commence from the 2026/27 season onwards. Until then, IMG and Premier League Productions will continue to deliver content for the next two seasons.

Premier League Productions is responsible for producing content that reaches more than 180 countries worldwide. It provides full coverage of all 380 Premier League matches each season along with a wide range of support programming. Further details regarding this transition into an independent media operation are expected to be released prior to its launch in 2026.

Spearheading in-house operations

With his appointment as director of technology, Andy Beale looks set to lead this significant shift towards internalizing operations within The Premier League. His previous experience includes serving as chief engineer and head of innovation at BT Sport where he oversaw technological advancements and construction projects such as BT Sport Production Hub located at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Andy Beale, Director of technology at Premier League, said:

“I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Director of Technology at The Premier League. Huge thanks to [Managing Director at Premier League Productions] Nick Morgan and the team for the very warm welcome. Looking forward to a very exciting few years ahead.”

The Premier League's decision to move its production operations in-house marks a significant shift in its operational strategy. With Andy Beale at the helm of technology, the organization is poised for an exciting few years ahead. As sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts eagerly await further details about this transition, it is clear that The Premier League continues to innovate and adapt in order to deliver high-quality content to its global audience.
