The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has announced a four-year extension of its media rights partnership with the MNC media group in Indonesia. This deal will cover the 2025-28 competitions cycle, ensuring that all major AFC competitions – men’s and women’s, club and national team – will be broadcast live by MNC.

This agreement is a continuation of the previous partnership between MNC and AFC, which was first unveiled in October 2019. The current contract runs through until the end of this year. The renewed tie-up signifies an ongoing commitment to bringing high-quality football coverage to fans across Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Timor-Leste.

Comprehensive coverage

Under this deal, viewers can look forward to comprehensive coverage of various prestigious tournaments. These include Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Men's (2027) and Women's (2026) Asian Cups, Men's and Women's Champions League club competitions, and Men's second-tier Champions League Two.

In addition to these tournaments, MNC will also provide free-to-air broadcasts on linear channels for all matches played by the Indonesian team during both the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and at the Asian Cup. The extended partnership was secured by Asia Football Group (AFG), which holds exclusive commercial rights for AFC properties across the 2023-28 cycle. AFG has been instrumental in fostering partnerships that enhance visibility for football events across Asia.

Last month saw another significant extension when AFC renewed its ties with Football Australia - football’s governing body in Australia - who subsequently renewed their own agreement with Paramount media giant’s Australian broadcast arm. As part of this arrangement, Football Australia remains as official rightsholder of all major AFC national team competitions in the country, delivered through the Paramount partnership.

MNC’s expanding football portfolio

MNC has been actively expanding its portfolio of top-tier football rights. In late August, the broadcaster acquired free-to-air, pay-TV, and streaming rights to Germany's Bundesliga. Furthermore, MNC recently provided coverage of the UEFA Euro 2024 matches.

This extended partnership between AFC and MNC is a significant development for football fans across Indonesia and neighboring territories. It ensures continued access to high-quality live broadcasts of major AFC competitions over the next four years.
