Saudi champions Al Hilal reportedly have approached Son Heung-min for summer transfer

Tottenham Hotspur captain, Heung-min Son, has recently spoken out about his future with the club amidst growing interest from Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal. This comes after the South Korean legend had an extra year added to his contract in February, which allows him to leave on a free transfer at the end of the 2025/26 season.

Son is among several Premier League attacking players who have been approached by Saudi champions Al Hilal. The list includes Liverpool duo Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez. Although their initial plan was to bring a new high-profile signing for the Club World Cup - a deadline that has now passed - there remains a possibility that Son could depart when the summer window re-opens.

Disappointment over management changes

The 32-year-old forward expressed disappointment over Tottenham's decision to let go of trophy-winning boss Ange Postecoglou, which has led him to reconsider his future with Spurs. Speaking on international duty after his team’s 4-0 win over Kuwait, he admitted facing an uncertain future.

Tottenham Hotspur captain, Heung-min Son, said:

“I still have one more year left on the contract. Rather than saying anything at this moment, I think we should all wait and see what happens. But no matter where I end up, I will always do the best I can. It will never change.”

Despite struggling this past season, Son acknowledged that victory in Europe helped mask several issues Spurs faced domestically.

Heung-min Son added:

“I know people may say I had a disappointing year, but personally, this was a special season because you play football to win, and only winners are remembered. I wasn’t in my best form for most of the season, but hopefully, I will be in better condition going into the new season.”

New wingers on Tottenham’s radar

As uncertainty looms over Son's future at Tottenham, rumours linking wide players like Bryan Mbeumo and Antoine Semenyo with moves to North London only add fuel to speculation about his departure after ten years with Spurs.

With Thomas Frank set as Postecoglou’s likely successor, links between Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo and Tottenham continue unabated – although they face competition from Manchester United for this explosive winger's signature.

In addition, Sky Sports reports suggest that Daniel Levy (Spurs chairman) and technical director Johan Lange are laying groundwork for a swoop for Bournemouth's talented wide man Antoine Semenyo. The report indicates that Levy and Lange favour Semenyo over Mbeumo, despite Frank's preference to bring the Brentford player with him. Meanwhile, Son also acknowledged his struggles to find his best form this past season, although victory in Europe helped gloss over a number of issues Spurs faced domestically.
