The ITV pundit was not impressed with his former side’s performance in Sunday’s FA Cup win against the Cottagers.

Manchester United booked their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup with a 3-1 victory at Old Trafford, but Roy Keane had more than a few choice words to say about the Red Devils’ display.

After struggling for large spells of the first half, Man Utd found themselves 1-0 down five minutes after the break, before Fulham gifted the hosts a route back into the contest.

A moment of madness saw Willian and Aleksandar Mitrovic sent off, while Fulham manager Marco Silva was also given his marching orders, enabling United to score three late goals to punch their ticket to the semi-finals.

After the match, however, ex-fed Devils captain Roy Keane did not hold back when assessing Manchester United’s performance.

Speaking as a pundit on ITV, Keane said:

“I’ve lost that little bit of confidence watching them now.

“A month or two ago you’re thinking, yeah, listen, they’re up for it, but in the cup, the last few games they just have a real habit of trying to play in moments.

That’s okay every now and again, but it just seems to be their DNA at the moment. I think they’ve got into some real bad habits and it’s as if they’re turning up today expecting we’ve got quality players and Man United are gonna win football matches.

“But if they turn up with that attitude for the semi-final Brighton will beat them. It gives them a bit of a kick up the backside.”

Aleksandar Mitrovic handed Fulham a deserved lead in the 50th minute, but Fulham’s hero soon became a villain when he shoved referee Chris Kavanagh, with the striker receiving a red card seconds after Willian’s sending off.

Bruno Fernandes equalised from the penalty spot following Willian’s handball on the goal line, before Marcel Sabitzer completed the comeback two minutes later. Deep into stoppage time, Fernandes scored his second and United’s third to send the club into the semi-finals.

Man Utd will face Brighton & Hove Albion in the last four of the FA Cup, while Manchester City and Sheffield United will face off in the other semi-final.

The good news for Keane is that United don’t return to action until Sunday, April 2, thanks to the international break. The two-week break will give the 51-year-old a chance to relax ahead of what is destined to be an eventful run-in!
