Preview
Liverpool started off the home leg brightly going up 2-0 before 15 minutes into the tie but soon lost the plot after that. Los Blancos completed a sensational and dominant turnaround to almost seal a place in the Quarterfinals.
Eder Militao opened the scoring for the visitors before Vinicius Jr. and Karim Benzema netted a brace each to help their side's cause. Liverpool will have to do the unthinkable in Madrid if they are to salvage anything from this tie.
Jurgen Klopp's men could perhaps take inspiration from Chelsea, who came extremely close to overturning a 3-1 deficit away from home. The Reds though, have failed to win any of their last six outings against Madrid and so this could be the perfect albeit difficult opportunity to reverse their fortunes this term.
One can expect another game with end-to-end action. Liverpool will be playing for the win as they have got nothing to lose at this stage and Madrid will be forced to attack the break. That being said, one can still expect the reigning La Liga champions to take the tie because one does not simply return from 2-5 away from home.
Jurgen Klopp himself has said that any hopes of reversing the deficit were not on his mind following the drubbing at Anfield.
"It is really not even in my mind"
We go there, I can say it now already, and try to win the game.
"If that is possible or not, I don't know now but that's what we will try and from there we will see."
Real Madrid vs Liverpool prediction
It is likely to be another goal-fest with Madrid bagging the win 3-2. Moreover, with Klopp's side running low on morale after a defeat against relegation contenders Nottingham Forest, the chances of them completing a turnaround victory look bleak.
