The Premier League has formed a five-year strategic alliance with Microsoft for platform development

The Premier League, one of the most popular football leagues globally, has taken a significant step towards enhancing fan engagement. In collaboration with tech giant Microsoft, the league has launched a new mobile app and website designed to deliver a personalized and engaging experience for fans around the world.

The Premier League has entered into a five-year strategic partnership with Microsoft to develop these platforms. As part of this alliance, Microsoft becomes the official cloud and AI partner of The Premier League. This partnership aims to leverage technology in providing an immersive experience that keeps fans connected to their favorite teams and players.

Richard Masters, chief executive at the Premier League, said:

“We are really excited to launch a more personalised digital experience that reflects the scale, ambition and global reach of the Premier League. These new digital products have been designed to enhance how we serve and engage with our fans around the world and reflect our ongoing commitment to innovation. We look forward to continuing to evolve these platforms in the years to come to meet the ever-changing needs of our global fans. “

New features

The new features of the Premier League's app and website are designed to provide a comprehensive and engaging experience for fans. The "Matchday Live" feature offers verified live scores, statistics, reporting, table updates, along with links to watch official broadcasts live from anywhere in the world. "Matchday Stories" allows fans to enjoy vertical storytelling from every match as it happens, including links to club and broadcaster platforms for a well-rounded view.

With "myPremierLeague", fans can personalize their alerts around their favorite players, clubs or matches. This feature also includes an interactive tab called "Line Up", which helps track progress while offering access to in-depth content.

"The Premier League Companion", powered by Microsoft Copilot AI assistant, provides fans with access to over 30 seasons of stats, 300k articles & 9k videos delivering tailored insights at scale. The "Discover Clubs" feature enables fans to get closer than ever before to all 20 clubs in the league through seamless referral links leading directly onto club platforms.

For those who enjoy fantasy football games, the world’s biggest game - Fantasy Premier League - is now available in Classic, Draft or Challenge format on both platforms. Lastly but not leastly is the introduction of "Premier League Radio". This new service provides an around-the-grounds service as well as individual match commentary from each match (excluding UK and Ireland), keeping you updated on every moment of action.

The Premier League's new app and website are a testament to the league's commitment to enhancing fan engagement. By leveraging Microsoft's cloud and AI capabilities, they have created an immersive platform that caters to every fan's needs. Whether it’s live scores, personalized alerts or access to in-depth content, the new platforms promise a comprehensive experience for sports fans worldwide.
