Spanish production company, NVP, has significantly upgraded its production infrastructure by investing in 144 Grass Valley cameras and 15 Outside Broadcast (OB) trucks. This investment is set to revolutionize the coverage of LaLiga's first and second division matches.

NVP, responsible for producing all LaLiga first and second division matches, has made a significant move to enhance its production technology. The company invested in 144 Grass Valley cameras, with LDX 135 and LDX 150 systems forming the core of seven high-end OB trucks.

These OB trucks will be utilized for covering LaLiga EA Sports (first-division), while an additional eight OB trucks optimized for remote production will cover LaLiga Hypermotion matches.

Delivering high-quality visuals

The newly acquired camera systems deliver native 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) images. Notably, the LDX 150 systems provide additional native 4K UHD high-speed capture capabilities that significantly enhance live action and replay storytelling.

Ivan Pintabona, CTO at NVP. said:

“Innovation is in NVP’s DNA,. With the LDX 150 and LDX 135, we are not only investing in cameras, we are investing in the future of live production. In particular, the LDX 135 cameras have demonstrated exceptional performance in real-world field operations, delivering a clear step forward in terms of image quality, HDR handling, and overall consistency in demanding live environments. These systems allow us to deliver UHD HDR productions with the highest level of reliability, while ensuring we can scale quickly.”

This investment also facilitates simultaneous UHD High Dynamic Range (HDR) and HD Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) production. This ensures consistent visual quality across all matches while delivering the required flexibility.

Supporting extensive match production

The new cameras and OBs are designed to support the production of more than 760 matches per season across Spain’s top professional football divisions. This upgrade marks a significant step towards improving match coverage quality while catering to sports fans' growing demand for high-quality visuals.

All camera systems were delivered within a short timeframe ahead of the season's start - a testament to effective collaboration between NVP, Grass Valley, and system integration partner Video Progetti S.r.l.

Carlos Ferreira, VP of sales for Southern Europe at Grass Valley, said:

“This project with NVP highlights the power of close collaboration across the entire production ecosystem. Working alongside Video Progetti, we delivered a solution that combines outstanding image quality with the scalability and reliability required for top-tier football production. We’re proud to support NVP in raising the bar for LaLiga broadcasts.”

This strategic investment by NVP is set to revolutionize the way LaLiga matches are covered, offering sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts an enhanced viewing experience. The move also underscores the growing trend of leveraging advanced technology in sports broadcasting to meet viewers' evolving expectations.
