Liverpool star forward, Mohamed Salah, has announced his impending departure from the club at the end of this season. The 33-year-old Egyptian footballer made this announcement on Tuesday, marking a significant moment in his illustrious career with Liverpool.
Salah took to social media platform X to share a video where he stated, "Unfortunately the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell." He confirmed that he would be leaving Liverpool once the current season concludes.
Liverpool forward, Mohamed Salah, said:
“I wanted to start by saying that I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, this people, would become part of my life. Liverpool is not just a football club, it’s a passion, it’s a history, it’s a spirit,”
“I can’t explain in words to anyone not part of this club. We celebrated victory, we won the most important trophies, and we fought together through the hardest time in our life. I want to thank everyone who was part of this club throughout my time here, especially the teammates, past and present, and to the fans… I don’t have enough words: the support you showed me through the best time of my career and you stood by me in the toughest times, it’s something I will never forget. And something I will take with me always.
“Leaving is never easy. You gave me the best time of my life, I will be always one of you. This club will always be my home to me and to my family. Thank you for everything. Because of all of you, I will never walk alone,”
Salah leaves behind an impressive legacy at Liverpool. With 255 goals scored in 435 appearances for the club, he ranks third on Liverpool’s all-time leading scorer’s list. Only Ian Rush and Roger Hunt have outscored him in terms of total goals for the club.
Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Salah has been instrumental in many of their successes. His contributions have helped them secure two Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, an FA Cup title as well as victories in Super Cup and Club World Cup competitions.
Breaking droughts and setting records
One of Salah's most notable achievements was helping end Liverpool's long-standing top-flight league title drought by winning the Premier League during the 2019-20 season. In addition to this historic victory, last season saw him produce his second-best scoring record with 29 league goals that propelled Reds towards another league crown. Following these remarkable performances and consistent goal-scoring prowess over seasons led him to sign a lucrative new two-year contract with Liverpool.
However, signs of Salah's exit began surfacing as early as November when tensions arose between him and Arne Slot - manager of Liverpool FC. In an explosive interview back then; he accused his club management for throwing him “under the bus” after being benched for three consecutive games. He also mentioned having no relationship with the Dutch manager.
As sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts anticipate Salah's next move, his departure marks the end of an era for Liverpool. His contributions to the club have been significant, and his absence will undoubtedly be felt in future seasons. However, as one chapter closes for Salah at Liverpool, another exciting one is set to begin elsewhere in the world of football.
