Christopher Nkunku has been struggling with both knee and hip injuries

Chelsea attacking midfielder, Christopher Nkunku, has been hit with another injury setback. This news comes directly from the Blues' manager, Mauricio Pochettino. The talented attacker will be sidelined for a few more weeks due to this unfortunate development.

Nkunku joined Chelsea in the summer of 2021 from RB Leipzig for a hefty fee of £52 million. However, his time at Stamford Bridge has been marred by injuries. Initially, he suffered a knee injury that kept him off the pitch until December 2021.

Just as he was making his return to Premier League fixtures in late January 2024 after recovering from his knee problem, he sustained a hip injury that further delayed his full return to action.

Pochettino expects Nkunku to be out for 3-4 weeks

Pochettino recently confirmed that Nkunku is set to miss an additional three to four weeks of action due to this latest setback.

Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, said:

“We heard yesterday that Chris Nkunku got injured, but we don’t know when he got injured. He’s undergoing medical assessment."

“At the moment, three-four weeks out for Chris. I hope."

"I hope no more… It's difficult for Chris as he was flying in pre-season before he got the knee injury. We need to see and evaluate."

This means that fans and sports betting enthusiasts who have been eagerly waiting for Nkunku's return will have to wait a little longer before they can see him back on the field again.

Nkunku just started to link up in Chelsea’s environment

Despite these setbacks, Nkunku has contributed significantly during his limited Chelsea appearances this season. He has made 10 appearances across all competitions and scored two goals.

His most recent appearance was in the second half of the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on Sunday, February 25th where unfortunately; The Blues suffered a narrow defeat with a scoreline of 1-0.

While it is disappointing news for both sports fans and sports betting fans, the hope is that Nkunku will recover soon and return to his best form. His absence is a significant blow to Chelsea, but it also presents an opportunity for other players in the squad to step up and fill the void.
