During the interview, Marquinhos jokingly teased Micah Richards when he asked to hold his Champions League medal

Marquinhos, the captain of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), recently took a humorous jab at Micah Richards during an interview with CBS Sports. This followed PSG's triumphant victory in the Champions League, marking Marquinhos' first win of this prestigious title.

The French team delivered a commanding performance against Inter Milan at the Allianz Arena, resulting in a resounding 5-0 victory. The team's relentless pressing and attacking play under Luis Enrique's guidance were key to their success.

Achraf Hakimi opened the scoring just 12 minutes into the game, followed by Desire Doue doubling their lead eight minutes later. The second half saw Doue score his second goal while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and academy graduate Senny Mayulu also found themselves on the scoresheet.

Redemption for Marquinhos

For Marquinhos, this victory held special significance as he was part of the PSG squad that lost to Bayern Munich in the 2020 final. Now five years later, he can proudly call himself a Champions League winner.

Following their trophy lift and celebrations, Marquinhos was invited to speak with CBS Sports where Thierry Henry asked questions in French while co-presenter Kate Scott translated into English for viewers.

Light-hearted moment with Micah Richards

During this interview came an amusing moment when former Manchester City defender Micah Richards asked to hold Marquinhos' medal. The Brazilian centre-back obliged before taking a playful dig at Richards who had never won it himself.

Henry chimed in saying: "That's because he never won it." To which Marquinhos quipped: "This is mine now. I was like you!"

Marquinhos also shared his emotional response to the victory, revealing that he had begun crying before the referee blew the final whistle. He expressed gratitude towards PSG fans who have supported them throughout the years and looked forward to celebrating this victory with them in Paris.

Marquinhos, Paris Saint Germain captain, said:

"So many fans have been with us through all these years. And I can only imagine what's going on in Paris right now. This is their day of glory. We're going to celebrate it together in Paris. I want to enjoy this moment. The 12 years [at the club], it is all running through my mind now.

"All the different players that have been at the club in these different years with me, all the experiences I've had at the club, what the club has done together to get to this point. In a final, 5-0 - it's an explosion of emotions."

Marquinhos' Champions League win was not just a personal triumph but also a testament to PSG's collective efforts over several seasons. His light-hearted banter with Richards added an entertaining touch to an already memorable occasion for sports fans worldwide.
