Roma of Italy will take on Feyenoord of the Netherlands this Wednesday for European silverware
The UEFA Europa Conference League has proven to be a lot more exciting than many had expected and the competition's first ever final shouldn't disappoint on Wednesday. Aside from going to the game in person, there's not much more fun you could have on a midweek evening than watching this game on TV.
Fans have enjoyed plenty of goals in what has been an oftentimes frantic tournament. The ball has hit the back of the net a total of 400 times going into this final, or 2.88 times per match, which equates to a goal every 31 minutes.
The final will feature the two highest scoring teams in the competition in Feyenoord (28) and Roma (27) and if you've watched either of these two sides play in the UECL this season, you'll know that anything can happen. Feyenoord's knockout battles with Slavia Prague and Marseille, and Roma's struggles against Bodo/Glimt in the group stage immediately come to mind as chaotic.
Then there's the narrative in the dugout. Jose Mourinho, as one of the most decorated coaches in the history of European football, may be about to make it a clean sweep of European silverware by winning the innaugural UECL trophy. Feyenoord coach Arne Slot has already told UEFA.com that he is "wary" of any Mourinho side.
Neither team will need to win this match in order to qualify for next season's UEFA Europa League, as both have qualified through their league position, and with the limited prize money at stake, both sets of players and coaches will most likely be playing purely for the pride of winning the first ever Conference League.
The match may not have the money or glamour of the Champions League final, which follows just three days after, and it may not attract quite the same audience on TV and live stream but there are still plenty of reasons to tune in to this European final.
With a high tempo, goal filled match on the cards, it's difficult to predict a winner. Mourinho and Slot will both be desperate to add some silverware to their very differing collections and end the season on a high note for their travelling fans in Tirana.
It's been very unpredictbale all campaign, especially in the latter stages, but many experts will give Roma the slight edge as they possess marginaly more quality and a head coach with a vast amount of winning experience.
Whatever happens, it is most certainly a game worth watching and here's how you can do so.
