Manchester United legend, Gary Neville, has suggested that David Beckham’s Inter Miami would be the ideal club for Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne to conclude his illustrious career. This comes after De Bruyne announced that this season would be his last with City.
The 33-year-old Belgian midfielder has had a decade-long spell at the Etihad Stadium, during which he helped the club win 16 pieces of silverware. He is hoping to add a third FA Cup trophy to his collection before the end of this campaign.
With an impressive record of 106 goals and 174 assists for City, De Bruyne is widely recognized as one of the club’s greatest ever players and one of the finest midfielders in Premier League history. Despite initial hopes from Pep Guardiola to retain De Bruyne for another year, contract extension talks ultimately fell through. The Belgian star is now seeking a fresh challenge for the forthcoming campaign.
Possible destinations
Rumours have long suggested that Saudi Pro League could be a possible destination for De Bruyne. The player himself fueled these rumours last summer when he told Belgian outlet HLN: "At my age you have to be open to everything."
De Bruyne has also been linked with several other clubs including Bayern Munich, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Gent - where he played as a youngster before becoming a household name in football.
However, former Manchester United and England right-back Gary Neville believes Major League Soccer (MLS) could offer an exciting final challenge for six-time Premier League winner before retirement.
A 'Great' final challenge?
Neville suggests Beckham's Inter Miami as an ideal destination due its discovery rights on De Bryune according to ESPN. This means the Florida-based club has the first chance to negotiate with De Bruyne should he decide to play in MLS.
Gary Neville, Manchester United legend, said:
‘I think it would be a great destination for De Bruyne. I can see him fitting into America, an American way of life. The game is improving enormously over there,’
‘I think he would sign for Inter Miami if they came to him. It’s perfect for Kevin De Bruyne. I can’t think of a player that would suit it better going over there and finishing his career. I think it would be a perfect end for him.’
Inter Miami already boasts a star-studded roster including Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. The addition of De Bruyne would undoubtedly enhance their lineup and provide an exciting prospect for sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts alike. While several clubs are vying for Kevin De Bruyne's attention as he seeks a new challenge post-Manchester City, Gary Neville's suggestion of Inter Miami could indeed be a 'perfect' fit for this Premier League legend.
