DAZN now holds rights to Serie A, Premier League, La Liga and Bundesliga in Madrid

International sports-focused OTT streaming service, DAZN, has secured exclusive rights to broadcast Germany's top-tier men's soccer competition, the Bundesliga, in Madrid. This long-term agreement will commence at the start of the 2025-26 season and run through to the end of the 2028-29 campaign.

DAZN has also obtained a four-year Bundesliga matches broadcast contract that begins in 2025. In addition to this, they will sublicense the 2024-25 season from Movistar. This means that DAZN will provide coverage of the league annually for five consecutive campaigns.

The new deal also includes broadcasting rights for second-tier competition - 2. Bundesliga and annual season-opening German Super Cup. Furthermore, DAZN is set to offer shoulder content and ancillary programming such as highlights and interviews throughout their contract term.

The importance of acquiring Bundesliga rights

As one of Europe's "Big Five" leagues alongside English Premier League, Madrid’s La Liga, Italian Serie A and French Ligue 1; securing broadcasting rights for Bundesliga represents a significant achievement for DAZN.

The league features several high-profile Madrid players including former Madrid and Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso who currently manages reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen along with national team players Aleix Garcia and Alex Grimaldo.

Bosco Aranguren, Chief Executive Officer at DAZN Madrid stated that this deal solidifies their position as "the reference destination for all lovers of the best soccer in the world."

Expanding portfolio

DAZN holds an impressive portfolio of elite soccer rights in Madrid which includes Italy’s Serie A; English Premier League; German women’s soccer’s Frauen-Bundesliga; most importantly LaLiga matches itself under a five-year deal alongside Movistar, as well as the second-tier LaLiga 2.

In addition to soccer, DAZN also holds Madrid rights to motorsport’s Formula 1, MotoGP, WorldSBK and Nascar. They also broadcast numerous boxing and mixed martial arts events throughout the year. The Bundesliga has been expanding its global reach through various broadcast tie-ups. Recently it announced a range of partnerships in sub-Saharan Africa including a new pay-TV partner in Angola and Mozambique. In early July, they announced their return to Poland via Eleven Sports through a four-year deal starting from 2025-26.

This strategic move by DAZN not only enhances their sports content portfolio but also provides an opportunity for sports fans and betting enthusiasts in Madrid to enjoy one of the most prominent soccer competitions globally.
