Robert Sanchez hasn’t been able to replicate his form from Brighton

Chelsea Football Club, a prominent name in West London, is reportedly open to selling their £25m summer signing. Despite recruiting two goalkeepers last summer, the club is once again in search of a new first-choice goalkeeper in the Chelsea squad.

In an attempt to revamp their goalkeeper position, Chelsea signed Robert Sanchez from Brighton as part of a £25m deal and Djordje Petrovic for £14m from New England Revolution. This major overhaul saw Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy leave Stamford Bridge for Real Madrid and Al-Ahli respectively.

Sanchez started the season as Mauricio Pochettino’s number-one choice but failed to impress before sustaining an injury in December. On the other hand, Petrovic has managed to catch Pochettino's eye with his performances.

Chelsea again will have to invest in goalkeeping position

Despite Petrovic's impressive performance, Argentine coach Pochettino plans to sign another top-notch goalkeeper this summer. Financial Fair Play issues prevented Chelsea from securing a new goalie during January; however, these constraints will not be applicable come summer.

Adding another twist to this tale of goalkeepers at Stamford Bridge is the news that Chelsea might be willing to listen to offers for Sanchez. This comes only a year after signing the Spanish shot-stopper who has been underwhelming so far.

The 26-year-old has his contract with Chelsea until 2030 but it seems like he might be leaving sooner than expected. It is likely that Chelsea will aim at recouping their initial investment of £25m before kick-starting their Premier League 2024/25 campaign.

Chelsea's quest for stability between the posts continues despite significant investments last year. With Pochettino unimpressed by Sanchez's performance and the club open to offers for him, it seems like another summer of change is on the horizon for Chelsea's goalkeeping department. The upcoming transfer window will be crucial in determining whether these changes can finally bring about the desired stability.
