Negotiations for Joshua's potential stake in Watford FC are reportedly ongoing

World-renowned heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, is reportedly considering a significant investment into the English Football League (EFL) Championship club, Watford FC. This news comes as the latest development in Joshua's growing portfolio of investments made from his boxing earnings.

Anthony Joshua has amassed substantial wealth throughout his illustrious career in heavyweight boxing. With an estimated net worth of around $83 million, he has been leveraging his earnings to make strategic investments. His portfolio includes property assets within the London area and could soon extend to include a share in Watford FC.

Heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, said:

"We wanted to move into private equity, venture capital funds. As you earn, naturally you want to save, so rather than me spending recklessly I’m trying to invest money into certain asset classes and that was an opportunity that presented itself.

“Nothing’s come of it yet. It’s a serious investment. If it comes off it’s one that should do well. If they went back to the Premier League then I’d need to get a shop on Market Street because the traffic that would be coming through Watford would be phenomena.

“I remember being on Market Street and watching the football fans. I’m not a massive football fan myself but watching the fans steamroll Market Street and steamroll Vicarage Road were real good scenes. If we don’t do it then good luck to them anyway because they’re a great team."

Local hero with global influence

Born and raised in Watford, where he continues to reside today, Joshua is regarded as a local hero. His potential investment into Watford FC not only reflects his desire to acquire valuable assets but also demonstrates his commitment to supporting local institutions that are close to home.

Recent headlines suggest that negotiations are underway for Joshua's potential stake purchase in EFL Championship club Watford FC. While details about this possible deal remain under wraps, it is clear that this opportunity aligns with the boxer's ongoing strategy of investing in valuable assets.

Current state of The Hornets

Watford FC - also known as 'The Hornets' - finished 14th place during their recent season within the EFL Championship league. Despite being relegated from the Premier League back in 2022, they have managed to maintain their position comfortably within their current division for another year.

This stability may present an attractive prospect for investors like Anthony Joshua who are looking for opportunities with promising growth potential and strong community ties.

This potential investment by Joshua could provide an exciting boost for Watford FC and its fans. It would not only bring additional financial support but also increase the club's visibility on a global scale due to Joshua's international fame.
