Prediction: 3-0
Tip: Both Teams To Score - No/Cristiano Ronaldo to score anytime
Key Points:
1. United have scored at least one goal in every one of their Champions League outings
2. Young Boys are winless on the road in the Champions League this season
3. Manchester United has won two and lost one of their three meetings with Young Boys
Manchester United will be concluding their final fixture from the Champions League group stages as they host Young Boys at Old Trafford on Wednesday night. While United has already advanced to the round of 16 as Group F winners, Young Boys trail at the bottom.
The Swiss side isn't out of Europe yet as they have a slight chance of finishing third in the group and eventually moving to the Europa League knockouts. For those things to happen - they have to start with a win in Manchester and hope that Atalanta BC loses to Villarreal.
Manchester United will be hoping to redeem their superiority against the visitors as they suffered a humiliating 2-1 loss against them in the opening matchday. Since then, the English club went on a four-game unbeaten run, winning three times and drawing once. The new appointment of Ralf Rangnick instilled the Red Devils with brimming confidence which was lacking in the outfit.
David Wagner's side, on the other hand, cannot afford to be complacent. Things are not going too smooth for them this year, as in the Swiss Super League, they trail behind in the fourth spot after becoming the champions last season. They have lost six of their last ten games in all competitions.
United has had a better record and is on the rise as they reside in the fifth spot of the Premier League. They remain undefeated in their last four games. Rangnick will likely use the luxury of resting his players and giving the benched players a chance to shine.
The hosts will again lack the services of Raphael Varane and Paul Pogba, while Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial will also miss out following their injuries. As for the visitors, David von Ballmoos, Cedric Zesiger, Christian Fassnacht, Jean-Pierre Nsame, Ulisses Garcia, and Felix Mambimbi will all miss the contest through injury.
