Roque is currently having a stellar 2025/26 season in South America, netting 16 goals in just 22 starts with Palmeiras

Tottenham Hotspur, a Premier League club, is gearing up to address its pressing needs in the upcoming winter and summer transfer windows next year. The club's most desperate need lies in bolstering their attack line.

Despite the promising performance of youngsters Wilson Odobert and Mathys Tel during Saturday's 2-2 draw with Manchester United, Tottenham’s options at striker remain far from impressive. Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani have been hampered by injuries throughout their careers. Furthermore, based on their past performances, they are unlikely to become world-class options for Spurs. Richarlison’s current form also leaves much to be desired.

While there has been talk of big spending in the post-Daniel Levy era, seasoned Spurs supporters are skeptical about these claims. Realistically speaking, it seems more likely that Spurs will gamble on young talents who show potential but carry enough red flags to prevent them from being high-value transfers.

Potential game changer?

According to Pete O'Rourke of Football Insider, Tottenham has joined Manchester United and rivals Chelsea in expressing interest in young Brazilian striker Vitor Roque. Despite being signed by Xavi for Barcelona at a significant cost only a few years ago, Roque quickly fell out of favor after finding himself benched behind Robert Lewandowski.

Roque shares similarities with Richarlison as both Brazilians can play as left wingers or strikers; however, Roque has made it clear that he prefers playing as a striker exclusively.

Reborn star

Although his time at Barca feels like ancient history now due to his subsequent stint with Real Betis and lack of spotlight since then, it should be noted that he is just 20 years old.

Roque is currently enjoying an excellent 2025/26 season in South America with Palmeiras. He has scored 16 goals in 22 starts, boasting impressive stats including an average of 1.1 key passes per game and nearly four combined dribbles completed and fouls drawn per match. Every transfer target linked to Tottenham, from Juventus pairing Jonathan David and Dusan Vlahovic to Roque, is bound to have flaws. However, Roque seems to offer more upside and recent production than the other strikers linked with the club.

While Tottenham's transfer strategy may involve a certain level of risk-taking on young talents like Roque who carry potential red flags - it could also prove fruitful if they manage to secure a player who can bolster their attack line effectively. As such, Vitor Roque could indeed be a legitimate target for Spurs in 2026.
