Sportradar, a leading sports technology firm, has announced a significant extension of its data and betting rights partnership with the German Football Association (DFB). This multi-year extension ensures that Sportradar will continue to hold exclusive data and streaming betting rights for the DFB-Pokal, Germany's premier men's knockout cup competition.
The acquisition of these rights was initially made possible through Sportradar’s purchase of IMG Arena last year. The deal not only solidified Sportradar’s position in the sports technology sector but also paved the way for this recent extension with DFB.
Starting from 2026-27 season, this agreement will cover non-exclusive global media data rights. It also includes 'skeletal data' - a first for this partnership - which is used by Sportradar to enhance fan engagement products across partnerships with major sporting organizations like UEFA and NBA.
Skeletal data
Skeletal data is an innovative tool that has been utilized by Sportradar in its deal with Bundesliga, Germany's top-tier men's soccer league. This advanced form of analytics provides detailed insights into player movements and performance metrics on the field, offering fans an enriched viewing experience. Under this extended agreement, all 63 games each season from the DFB-Pokal competition will be covered. Kay Dammholz, Media Rights Director at DFB expressed his satisfaction over their continued collaboration with Sportadar stating that it ensures "a professional and safe global distribution" while upholding integrity standards.
In addition to football-related ventures, recent Sportradar activities have seen the firm expand into other sports. Earlier this month, Sportradar and the Professional Fighters League (PFL) mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion announced a significant deal. This exclusive agreement places Sportradar at the heart of PFL’s global betting and gaming strategy, covering its entire sports betting ecosystem.
Sportradar's extension of its data rights with DFB is a testament to its growing influence in the world of sports technology and betting. With innovative tools like skeletal data enhancing fan engagement, and expansion into new sporting arenas such as MMA, it's clear that Sportradar is setting new standards in how we consume and engage with our favorite sports.
