Sky Sports have partnered with American manufacturer Fanatics to open their first online merchandise shop

Fanatics and Sky Sports have partnered to open a new online sports merchandise shop.

The deal between the American online manufacturer and the broadcasting company will see Fanatics provide its own range of products while also manufacturing Sky Sports’ branded products. The shop will be available on Sky’s own channels at shop.skysports.com.

Fanatics offers a wide range of merchandise from over 900 sporting organizations across football, cricket, NFL, NBA, and F1. So, one will have access to a wide range of their favorite teams’ sporting merchandise available for purchase.

Matthew Primack, the senior vice-president for international business affairs and development at Fanatics has claimed that the deal between Sky and Fanatics will help fans gain access to the product they like when they watch sports, enabling them to display their allegiance to the team of their choice.

Speaking about the partnership between Fanatics and Sky, Primack said:

“Fanatics is proud to partner with Sky Sports and to enable Sky Sports’ entrance into the licensed sports merchandise market. This launch marks a significant milestone for Sky, Fanatics, and sports fans more widely because it will close the gap between fans watching sports and wanting to gain access to product, through which they can demonstrate their allegiance to their favourite team kits and colours, in the moment.

“Over the years Sky Sports has built a global reputation as an industry leader in sports broadcasting, always willing to innovate and push the envelope to improve the experience for fans across a wide range of sports – values that align closely with our own. This exciting partnership brings our collective expertise together to provide an enhanced experience for sports fans across the UK, Germany, and Italy by offering access to one of the widest ranges of licensed sports merchandise available anywhere.”

Yath Gangakumaran, the commercial director at Sky Sports has also expressed his delight at the new partnership between the two companies. Gangakumaran said:

“We’re proud to be able to announce this new e-commerce platform as part of our digital ecosystem, as Sky Sports continues to drive innovations which deliver the best possible experience for sports fans. Fanatics is an established global leader in this space, and as partners, our combined expertise will enable us to deliver an industry-leading and seamless experience.”

The online merchandise shop will be available to fans across the UK, Ireland, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, and Germany. It is also the first time that Fanatics will have partnered with a European broadcasting company. So, fans in these selected regions will have a wide range of sporting merchandise and branded Sky products at their fingertips.

In fact, recently, DAZN also announced that they would be moving into e-commerce, betting, and gaming but are yet to launch their service. So, it could take a while before we see the American broadcast company set up their bases in these fields.
